You Won't Make It
Don't fight me until you finish reading it o pls

Amebo, before you fight me, let me complete the sentence (cliche)- You Won't Make It Unless You Try.
Now that you have put down your koboko, let me look for your trouble again and say that even when you try, you may still not make it. I promise that I am not swearing for you.
Many times in our lives, it certainly feels like the odds are moving mad. As a writer, I have an unwanted relationship with rejection letters. My inbox is packed full with many of them and I take breaks from submissions now and again. Why? because hearing no all the time can take a toll on ya gurl.
What I appreciate about them though is the perseverance you build and the lessons you learn. Sometimes, when I go back to read those stories I submitted, I cringe at how half baked they are and I am grateful they were not accepted. Other times, they get published in much better places.
If you truly believe in something and you are working hard to earn it, I don't think the “NOs” can never make you stop completely.
The “NOs” may discourage you for a bit, they may even discourage you for a long time but if you really really want it, I don’t think they will cause a permanent halt. Well, maybe that’s just me being naive (hopeful)
Also, while I believe in our power to learn almost anything if we have the time, money and zeal to, not everything is for us. We need to know this and know peace. (Using style to drag some of my poet and musician friends)

If you have been working hard at something for some time now and it is not yielding, I think you should evaluate
Why you are doing it.
How you have been doing it so far.
What you actually want to get out of it.
Fun Stuff
I wrote an article on the budgeting mistakes we make and how to fix them on She Leads Africa. If you are like me and you don’t bother with budgets until you are really really broke, then you should read it.
The “tweet like someone in the Bible” trend has been cracking me up. Some people think they are blasphemous. While I think some tweets are doing a little too much, most of them are just really funny and clever.
I am hosting a Zoom reading party soon. Let me know if you will like to attend.
Because you are my Amebo, you deserve to see the flier first, so here you go-

Till next time. ❤
Ya gurl,
Ifeoma.
